What is the role? We have an exciting opportunity to join the High Performance department at Southampton Football Club. The Lead Physiotherapist / Sports rehabilitator for the Girls & Women’s programme is a new role which will formulate and lead the service provision of sports medicine to all Girls & Women’s players. The Lead Physiotherapist will oversee and co-ordinate injury prevention, lead and manage the senior squad player’s medical care and rehabilitation programmes for all injured players. You will be working closely with Coaches, Sport Scientists, Doctors, Physiologists, and fellow Physiotherapists to ensure best methods of player physical and mental development are achieved. The role requires a level of communication with parents, players and staff to provide feedback on diagnosis and treatment of injury . You will have an active role in the High Performance department’s on-going CPD programme and ensure your own CPD development (minimum 36 hours per year). What are we looking for? We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic physiotherapist / sports rehabilitator who is passionate about driving forward a new and exciting chapter in the history of Southampton Football Club. You will have knowledge and exposure of manual therapy skills and sports rehabilitation as well as injury prevention methods and recovery strategies. The desirable candidate will have experience of working in a multidisciplinary sports setting where they have developed exceptional collaboration skills. You must have the ability to manage and support the Girls & Women’s medical care programme with good autonomy but will be fully integrated and supported within the academy medical services at Southampton Football Club. The competencies which are required include: Essential Experience: • Managing own patient caseload • Extensive manual therapy skills. • Knowledge in delivering the conditioning requirements of the elite footballer. Desirable Experience: • Previous experience working as a physiotherapist in an Academy setting. Essential Qualifications (including certifications): • CSP/HCPC registered. • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (min 2:1 qualification). • Have completed or willing to start the “Movement Solution” course within 12 months Essential Skills: • Able to communicate clearly in a group / team situation • Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders including senior management • Good listening skills • Meticulous in record keeping and attention to detail • Ability to multi-task proficiently and manage time efficiently Desirable Skills: • Ability to manage own patient lists.
