Our Client A charitable organisation which operates British Forces Broadcasting under contract to the Ministry of Defence, running radio stations in places where there are large concentrations of British military, abroad and at home, and broadcasting the best of British TV to Forces and their families based overseas. Their worldwide network of 30 radio stations and 16 TV channels has studio centres in eight countries and a global transmission network covering 16 time zones. It is responsible for the entire end-to-end broadcast system, from programme acquisition and original production, to end-user delivery to barracks, homes and Navy vessels at sea. The Technology Division has around 50 broadcast and IT engineers who are responsible for the design and operation of all of their technical operations, facilities and capital projects. The Role The small Digital Product team are responsible for leading the digital product design and development strategy within the organisation. This new UI/UX Designer post is a rare opportunity within the media and broadcast industry to work on innovative solutions which make a real difference to lives of people who serve their country, and to help share their stories with the wider public. The UX/UI designer will join their Digital Product team, reporting to the Head of Digital Product. Your role will touch on all aspects of their varied product and platform portfolio, including their websites and apps. You will bring knowledge of best practice in UX to help create enjoyable, impactful user experiences. You will have the opportunity to bring fresh approaches and innovative ideas to the table. The UX/UI designer will have: Demonstrable experience of design across all stages of the product development process, from low-fi concept sketches, through personas, user journeys, UI prototyping and usabilitytesting. Be comfortable working with a wide range of internal stakeholders, guiding them through workshops and exploring requirements. Understand the importance of user-centric design and gain an understanding of our audiences. Have the ability to present your work and discuss the rationale, backed up with data where possible. Knowledge of design and prototyping tools eg, but not specifically, Adobe creative suite, Axure, Sketch. 2 years experience in a UX and UI design role. Desirable A relevant qualification is desirable Experience working for a media organisation An understanding of the British Armed Forces Terms This new UX/UI Designer part-time role is offered on a 12 month contract initially which could become permanent. They envisage 22 hours would be appropriate but can flex slightly up or down and these could be concentrated into 3-5 days to suit. Office based in Chalfont St Peter.
